Anti-allergen pillows

The allergy medication people take to keep their noses from running, and their eyes from itching may be responsible for keeping them up at night. Many types of allergy medication containing loratadine (an antihistamine) can cause sleepiness during the day, which can result in sufferers feeling less tired at night. On the flip side of the coin, many decongestants can have the affect of insomnia.

Getting a restful night of sleep is tough in middle of allergy season. But there’s an alternative—suffers can try using an anti-allergen pillow. Many afflicted with allergies show a bad reaction to down pillows, and can’t tolerate the dust mites most pillows contain.

Anti-allergen pillows prevent users from inhaling allergens where their face touches the pillow, and they are also a worthy alternative to medication.

trouble sleeping

You’re on a plane, headed towards a family vacation in Mexico you’ve been planning for months, when suddenly everything starts to go wrong. The pilot announces both engines have exploded, and you will need to make an emergency-crash landing. But, the plane is 600 miles of the coast, and you realize it will be landing somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. You wake up. It was only a dream—actually, it was a nightmare. But now you’re awake, it’s 3 a.m., and you can’t fall back asleep.

Anyone who’s had trouble sleeping due to night terrors or anxiety knows the value of a good nights sleep. Without needed rest your workday is less productive, and you struggle just to get through the day.

There are ways to get rid of nightmares, even if they are a product of your subconscious. Mental health professionals recommend yoga, meditation, and exercise as a way to decrease the nighttime anxiety that causes bad dreams. If those options don’t work for you try talking with your family doctor about any underlying medical conditions could be causing your anxiety and nightmares.

Dust MiteAre you aware of the war going on in your bedroom?  It’s the war between the microscopic mites and your bed!  Despite our best efforts at cleanliness, these tiny dust mites (50 of them can fit on the head of a pin!) live on the skin cells we shed.

How can we win this war against an enemy we can’t even see?  We’ll look at some front-line strategies for pillows.

  • Dust mites can be temporarily eliminated by washing pillows.
  • Purchasing hypo-allergenic products or those containing anti-allergen features will be great advise to people with allergies.
  • Encasing pillows will also be important as mites can quickly re-infest.

Have fun in the war against dust mites!

Sleep tests were performed in Australia concentrating on three categories of snoring.  Mild, moderate and heavy snoring.  The heavy snoring division did pose a concern for greater risk for strokes.

It’s not too late to find a way to eliminate that risk - perhaps it’s just a change in your pillow!
