Reducing Back and Neck Pain In Pregnancy

Author: sleepeasy
June 30, 2008

lumbar support pillowLet’s face it…pregnancy, while the most wonderful and amazing time in a women’s life, can also be the most tiring and painful nine months as well! A lumbar support pillow may reduce the back and neck pain, which are two of the most common discomforts.

Why is this pain experienced in the first place for someone who is pregnant?  An increase in hormones leads to a shift in joints and loosening of ligaments that may affect the support a woman’s back usually experiences.  Another cause, the centre of gravity gradually moves forward which causes a change in posture and then we have the additional weight of the baby that a pregnant woman’s back must support.

Consider a back rest pillow to make those nine months a truly pain-free journey!

Therapeutic memory foam pillow technology is great for stomach sleepers.  For anyone who has or does sleep on their stomach, chances are quite high that you wake up with a sore neck and/or back if that’s how you’ve slept for a few years.  When a person wakes up in pain, how can that not affect your mood also?

The memory foam technology molds into the shape of your head which allows for both comfort and correct alignment of the spine and neck.

So why not try a memory foam pillow to get a full night’s rest - you won’t regret it!

Anti Allergen Pillow

anti allergen pillow

My son always wakes up sneezing. I asked our pediatrician about it and the doctor says it might be dust mites. He said it was nothing really serious, but I should consider anti-allergy beddings.

I looked around and saw that these were quiet expensive, but I didn’t want my son to continue being uncomfortable, so I kept looking. Good thing too, because I found your anti allergen pillow online and it worked!

I just love my lumbar support pillow. I cannot sit down or sleep without it! For me, it was one of the greatest inventions ever made!

Being pregnant sure makes back pain a daily hell, but this great reliable pillow makes my waking hours more bearable. I’ll definitely keep on using this even after I give birth!

A Neck Pillow to the Rescue for Heatstroke and Heat Exhaustion?

Author: sleepeasy
June 25, 2008

We all look forward to those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer but let’s not throw caution to the wind.  As much as we love our sun, if we do not keep our bodies well hydrated we may suffer from heat exhaustion.  If not treated properly, an individuals condition may progress to heatstroke, which is much more serious.

The treatment for heatstroke is to remove the person from out of the sun and take away as much clothing as possible.  Raising their head onto a neck pillow and spraying tepid water while fanning the entire body is advised.  Due to the seriousness of this condition, call 911 or take the individual to a medical facility as soon as possible.

Author: sleepeasy
June 20, 2008

The majority of us are affected by snoring -either because we do it ourselves or lay in bed at night listening to the beautiful strains of someone else snoring!  Let’s look at various options to reduce, prevent or possibly stop snoring all together

  •  Surgery - 50% or less success rate and quite expensive.
  • Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Appliance -First choice by physicians to treat sleep apnea but eh appliance is inconvenient and uncomfortable and only effective is it is used continually.
  • Adjustable Bed - you sleep peacefully and the price is affordable
  • Custom Dental Appliances - Durable, adaptable and comfortable but expensive
  • Nasal Valve Dilators - Only help with the least common type of snoring, clogged nasal passages.  May fall off during sleep and uncomfortable.
  • Stop Snoring Sprays - Inexpensive but only temporary relief.  May be addictive and damage mucuous membranes.
  • Stop Snoring Pillows - Designed by a doctor to help improve sleeping posture.  Moderate price range.

Allergy Sufferers Unite!

Author: sleepeasy
June 17, 2008

Let’s take some time to speak about one common allergy -  dust mites!  The best place to attack these critters is in the bedroom where we spend 1/3 of our day.  These pests thoroughly enjoy dead skin flakes as a food source so therefore we must beat them at their own game as an average bed can have up to 2 million dust mites!  Here’s a few tips to help you in the fight!

  • Encase pillows, mattresses, box springs and comforters in dust proof, zippered covers
  • Wash all bedding in hot water (130 F) weekly.
  • Install high efficiency A/C filters to trap airborne allergens.
  • Vacuum and clean carpets regularly.
  • Purchase anti-allergen pillows.

How is a Memory Foam Pillow Different?

Author: sleepeasy
June 16, 2008

With the success of memory foam mattresses and mattress pads, the creation of memory foam pillows followed quite close behind.  All three are comprised of the same gel-like polyurethane compound that both cushion and support the contours of your body.  When you purchase a memory foam pillow you can say good-bye to neck aches and cranial pressure points commonly associated with regular pillows.

What makes these pillows different?   Thousands of microscopic “cells” are  contained in a memory foam contour pillow and these can deform under pressure.  When your neck, shoulders or head rest on the pillow, the air in these deformed cells moves to neighbouring cells, thus creating the exact contours of your shape.

Memory foam pillows come in a variety of shapes and thicknesses as well as a range in prices.
