Foam Pillows Extremely PopularDo not let the pillow you rest your head upon, be just an afterthought purchase.  Your pillow plays an important role in getting a good night’s sleep.

Purchasing a pillow is a very individual thing.  When you boil it right down, it’s a matter of what feels good to you.  Do you need soft, medium or firm support?  You also need to determine your sleeping style.

Memory foam pillows are extremely popular now.  They provide support for the head, neck and back while also being good for those who suffer with allergies.  One more tip to consider when purchasing a pillow:  You get what you pay for.  And that might just be the difference between a restful or restless night - you decide!

Memory FoamMore and more people have come to love their memory foam pillows.  Let’s discover why.

Memory foam is a visco-elastic polyurethane foam that is resilient.  It is soft and light to hold but firm under your head and very durable.  It is dense, yet yielding.  Originally created for use in outer space, this material is now used as a popular choice for mattresses, pillows and coverings!

The benefits are many :

  •   improves quality of sleep
  • takes away pressure points
  • conforms to body shape
  • great for neck and back problems
  • great for chronic snorers
  • allows comfortable position to sleep in
  • gives soft, luxurious, snuggly comfort.

These all add up to a great night’s sleep.  No other pillow can beat its advantage of being so soft and yet so supportive.  Once you’ve experienced it, it could be hard to resist!

A Foam Pillow For Your Guests!

Author: sleepeasy
November 22, 2008

foam pillowsWe all like to be treated as special when we are travelling, especially during the holidays.  If you are anticipating guests arriving for the upcoming holidays, you can help make them feel welcome and make their stay like “home away from home”!

If possible, offer them more than the couch and an extra blanket!  An inviting guest room takes some thought, time and a little money but how your guests will appreciate it.

A guest room has a function, it is more than a “pretty place”.  A bed is where the guests will spend most of their time so it may be worth investing in a good quality mattress.  Provide a variety of pillows in different weights, two of which should be foam pillows for those who are allergic.  Foam pillows also work well for support when reading in bed.

A selection of various weights in blankets would be welcome by those staying in the room.

Other items to consider include, rooms with windows that can open or close, empty drawers in a dresser and space in a closet with extra hangers, a night light, a reading light, books, snacks and perhaps a flower which says “I am happy to have you here.  Welcome.”

Snore relief

Snore relief

Snoring can be dangerous because it is often associated with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea means the cessation of breathing, usually for a few seconds. Sleep apnea alerts the brain and signals the person to wake up and breathe. This is the reason why snorers, who are often thought to be deep sleepers, wake up fatigued and sleepy.

They end up not performing at their finest during the day. Sometimes they even fall asleep quickly, as if not having been able to sleep at all the previous night. There are various treatments that guarantee snore relief. One is by wearing a CPAP mask. A cheaper but equally effective way would be to try an ergonomically-designed pillow that ensures a good night’s sleep by improving sleep posture and preventing snoring.

Memory foam pillow

The most common aches and pains are concentrated on the neck and lower back area. Usually, this pain is caused by the mattress and pillow used. Most people don’t know that a mattress that is too soft or too hard can strain our muscles.

Same goes for pillows. Pillows must be firm enough and must not be piled up too high. This can cause neck strain. A memory foam pillow has the correct firmness and thickness that prevents neck stiffness. It guarantees a good night’s sleep.

Memory Foam PillowsOuch!  That could be your head or neck talking to you when you wake up in the morning!  If you listen carefully, all you may have to do is change to a memory foam pillow and all your body parts will be happy!

Using a wrong pillow may place you in a position that is unsuitable and unhealthy for your head and neck.  You may have difficulty falling asleep or not be able to sleep for long periods of time due to discomfort resulting from the wrong pillow.

You can say goodbye to a sore neck and shoulders!  A memory foam pillow is designed to support your head and neck appropriately as it readily molds itself to your specific shape.  By evenly distributing your weight over the surface of the pillow, this allows for improved blood circulation to all your cells.  The various welcoming shapes and pressure relieving material ensures optimum pressure relief and can even eliminate snoring problems!

anit-allergensWith the approach of our fall and winter seasons, we will all be spending more time indoors.  Interestingly enough the EPA ranks indoor air as one of the top 5 environmental health risks!

It is important to dust and vacuum frequently, clean the air ducts and be observant to signs of mold and moisture.  Here are some added tips to fight off those allergies:

  • Anti-allergen sprays used on indoor fabrics
  • Vacuuming with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter
  • Wash sheets and blankets weekly in 130 degree water
  • HEPA filters on furnaces
  • Consider bedding such as a pillow manufactured with 100% hypo-allergenic premium pillow foam

A Pillow for Pregnancy!

Lumbar Support PillowWith 80% of pregnant women experiencing back pain, it is important to find solutions to this uncomfortable situation.

Some of the back pain may be due to poor posture or day-to-day work techniques.  Always be aware of your sitting and standing posture and remember to lift with your knees not your back.  Considering the additional weight that is being carried, there is an extra toll put on the body.

Do not be discouraged if after delivering, you find the pain has not completely disappeared.  Remember it takes about 8 weeks after childbirth for the abdominal muscles to effectively stabilize the pelvis and protect the spine.

Massaging the lower back often will relieve tired, aching muscles.  A lumbar support pillow used under the abdomen and between the knees will also reduce back pain.  Don’t hesitate to exercise during pregnancy, just do it correctly!  It can be as easy as walking or swimming.
