Don’t be alarmed if you pass by your son or daughter’s room and hear snoring!  There can be several common reasons for this.

  • An active child in the daytime may snore as they are overly tired.
  • Onset of seasonal allergies
  • Yearly colds
  • Warning sign of being asthmatic (highly recommended to consult pediatrician if there is excessive nightly snoring or family history of asthma)
  • Early or current ear infection - consult pediatrician
  • Overweight - lose the excess weight or consider the anti-snoring pillow
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - lacking the regular 8 - 10 hours of sleep a night can cause some children to be somewhat hyper.

There are definitely ways to help “unlock” the mystery around your child’s snoring.  Don’t be afraid to consider these points.  There may be an easy solution!

Therapeutic Pillows Among the Top 7 Tips To Get A Good Night’s Sleep!

sleepless-night.jpg

65 million American adults suffer from sleepless nights.  While a trip to the doctor’s office may result in a prescription of sleeping pills, why not try some natural approaches which will work better over the long haul.  Whether you are up all night or have occasional late-night wake-ups, all are still a threat to your overall health.

Consider these tips for a happier you in the morning!

  1. Regular should be Routine - Regular sleep/wake cycles, even on weekends, is the best for your body.
  2. Invest in You - Take the time to discover the best fit for you when considering pillows, mattresses and sheets.  Do you need extra pillows, therapeutic pillows or pillows to elevate your head?
  3. Stop the Stimulants - Sensitivity to caffeine causes more sleep problems than many people realize.  Caffeine comes in the from of coffee, tea, chocolate and/or some drugs.
  4. Routine Rituals are Good - Take a hot bath, enjoy some herb tea, read a book or brush your teeth as steps towards telling your mind that you are ready to wind down.
  5. Alcohol a No No - Troubled and fragmented sleep often is the result if you say yes to that glass of wine!
  6. Breathe Deep and Relax - Strenuous exercise within a few hours of bedtime can have a short-term stimulant effect.  Opt for some aromatherapy, deep breathing exercises, listening to music or a massage instead.
  7. Rise Up - More time in bed does not guarantee more sleep.  If you are awake - get up!

How Much Sleep Are You Losing Each Night?

How Much Sleep Are You Losing Each Night?

If snoring were just caused by poor sleep habits, the solution would be easier. But in most cases it is more complicated. We can take note of tips that will help stop snoring.  Losing weight will reduce fatty tissues in the back of the throat that cause the vibrating sound.  Elevating the head will make breathing easier.  Certain foods, alcohol and medication should be avoided before going to bed.  Some foods and alcohol tend to relax muscles.  Sleeping pills will help you sleep but again, it will relax muscles and increase the chance of snoring.

Snoring is not only the problem of the snorer but of the spouse as well.  Studies show that a person who sleeps with a snorer loses up to 60 minutes of sleep each night. Fortunately, there are a lot of products and devices in the market that claims to stop snoring.  One of them are specialty pillows that have been proven to improve better sleeping habits, while lessening the habits of snoring.

You May Have Inherited Snoring

You May Have Inherited Snoring

We often inherit good or bad attributes from our parents and grandparents.  Some we welcome others we don’t.  Snoring is one of things we could inherit. There are many causes of snoring but specialists have generally grouped them into two major reasons.  Snoring which is the narrowing of the airway, may be caused by either poor sleep posture or abnormalities of the soft tissue in the throat.  A narrow airway gets in the way of smooth breathing and creates the sound of snoring.

To understand the case of an individual’s snoring is not a simple matter. Doctors make extensive efforts to determine a lot of factors including his position while sleeping, his general health condition, and gender. The sleeping position of a person says a lot about the cause of snoring and a person on the obese side will most likely experience the disorder. Males are believed to be more prone to snoring because they have narrower air passages than women.

Don’t Be Without Your Hypo-Allergenic Pillow!

pillows-in-bedroom.jpgOur winter season (especially for those living in Canada) does cause a person to spend more time indoors.  On the average, we spend one-third of each day at home and during this time we expose ourselves to potential indoor allergens.

The #1 indoor allergen for most people with allergies is the house dust mite.  These small microscopic creatures love to live in warm, cozy places like pillows, mattresses, box springs and duvet covers in your bedroom. There is a way you can protect yourself and your family to survive this allergen and others.

Great improvements have been made in the manufacturing of bedding, pillows and linens such as hypo-allergenic pillows and removable and washable covers for pillows.

Remember these dust mites can also be in hotels or a relative’s home so be smart and take your own pillow along with you.

Let’s keep those allergies to a minimum!

reading-a-book.jpgDo you long for uninterrupted time to enjoy a good book?  With all the demands life throws our way, it can be hard to find sufficient time.  Book publishers are perceiving a real problem that people are buying and reading fewer books.  Ideas have been mentioned of integrating books and computers in various ways.  Is that a real solution?  I don’t know.  To me, it just doesn’t sound as comfortable as curling up in a chair with a good book and a warm cup of tea!

If you do succeed in grabbing the time to pick up a book, here’s some advice to successfully enjoy that time.

  • Avoid multitasking.
  • Turn off the television.
  • Shift positions occasionally so you don’t get cramps or backaches.  Consider using a neck or back support pillow.
  • Avoid switching tasks.
  • Keep a small dictionary nearby.

Here’s to taking time to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life!

At Last…I Can Sleep!

Author: sleepeasy
February 4, 2009

man-and-wife.jpgIt seems to be that on average the typical male can fall asleep almost before his head actually hits the pillow!  How many of you ladies out there have come to bed, after your husband, only to find him sleeping soundly which of course means, snoring as well!  I too am one of the fortunate ones who has had that happened to her on occasion.  There I lie, hoping that perhaps he will stop shortly once he has fallen into a really deep sleep.  The clock keeps ticking but no, he just keeps on snoring.  Oh, he’s turning over now, perhaps that will do it, no, only a false hope, again!   If only he wasn’t so hard to wake up, perhaps I could nudge him awake so he would stop the snoring.  Oh what to do!

Ladies, the Snore-No-More pillow has given my husband relief, or should I say, given me relief!  It truly is a happy night when I see my husband turn to his Snore-No-More pillow for a good night’s rest!  He has even admitted to sleeping better with that particular pillow over his regular one.

Now I realize this may not solve all your marital problems but solving one problem is better than solving none at all, isn’t it?  Check out this pillow and start enjoying your sleep!
